Who are the Professional Bodies for Educational Psychologists?
For a professional to use the title “Educational Psychologist” in the UK they must be registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). This is because Educational Psychologist is a legally protected title . For more information about this see our page “Why is it important my Educational Psychologist is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)?”
In addition to the HCPC Educational Psychologists may also be registered with other professional organisations such as the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP). Such organisations are not the regulators for Educational Psychologists, but may act as representing the profession and professionals, promoting research, raising awareness and increasing public understanding.
At Psychology Direct we have at our heart a commitment to quality and to providing an efficient service to our clients. Ensuring all our Educational Psychologists (EPs) are registered with the appropriate professional organisation(s) not only ensures they are properly regulated, but also that they have access to the CPD and resources these organisations have to offer. In addition it saves our clients time vetting EPs, gives peace of mind that all checks have been done, and that the EPs we supply are professionals dedicated to their discipline and Best Practice.
