What is the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)?
The HCPC is the regulatory body of health, psychological and social work professionals. Responsible for protecting the public, they maintain a register of health and care professionals who meet set standards in training, professional skills, behaviour and health. As regulators, the HCPC also works in policy, standard-setting and championing best practice within the Health and Care professions.
The HCPC consists of the main Council, who’s role is to ensure that service users are sufficiently protected. The Council, made up of professionals from a variety of healthcare and non-healthcare related backgrounds, set and monitor policies and strategies that apply to the HCPC. They are in turn supported by HCPC staff, additional committees, partners and the Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service.
